The Ministry of Interior’s Council, hosted by Salem Mohamed Al Rashedi at his residence in Al Wathba Region in Abu Dhabi, tackled the “Role of Parents in Preventing Children’s Delinquency.” The Council pointed to the importance of parental presence for many hours during the day with children; which plays a fundamental and significant role in protecting children against all types of delinquency.

The Council is part of the awareness-raising councils organized by the Law Respect Culture Bureau, in cooperation with the Security Media Department at the Security Support General Directorate, at the General Secretariat of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. It was moderated by media figure Talal Al Hindasi from Abu Dhabi Media.

The Council recommended that parents need to have a friendly relationship with their children and to deepen calm dialogue with them. It also stressed the importance of listening to children’s opinions and ideas, and having long discussions in an amiable family spirit to prevent them from falling prey to bad companions.

The council called for instilling a spirit of positive patriotism and love for the country in children and nurturing their cultural heritage by reminding them of their customs, traditions, and the teachings of Islam. Participants in the council also called for encouraging children to abide by the righteous morals, and endeavor to enhance their skills and acquire purposeful hobbies to fill their leisure free time with useful and harmless activities that would protect them against delinquency.
